Our GSM/GPRS network reaches 93% of the Canadian population offering extensive coverage in both urban centres and local areas. GSM is the world standard for wireless communications that is relied upon by more than 73% of the world's digital markets. Our customers benefit from using GSM/GPRS technology - the world standard for wireless communications.

Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) is a technique by which multiple conversations can be carried on one radio channel by transmitting fragments of these conversations at precisely timed intervals. The current version of TDMA for wireless carries three conversations on one cellular radio channel; future versions will carry more than six conversations on one channel.
Mobitex is an international standard for two-way wireless packet switched data communication, currently operational in countries around the world. The Rogers Mobitex Data Network provides:
- High-speed and reliable message delivery.
- Secure digital message transmission.
- Store and forward network capability automatically sends you messages when you return to a coverage area or turn your BlackBerry back on.
- No long distance or roaming charges all across Canada.
Coverage areas for your GSM/GPRS BlackBerry are included in the GSM coverage areas. Please refer to the GSM coverage section.
Paging coverage area refers to the area in which your pager must be in order to receive a page. However, you must be within your own coverage area to receive your message. Rogers offers a the following coverage options to meet your service needs:
- Local - major urban centres
- Provincial (Western Canada and Quebec only).
- Regional - multiple urban centres.
