Rogers Wireless was the first wireless company in Canada to:
- provide a national seamless network. As of December 1999, Rogers Wireless analog coverage reaches well over 90% of the Canadian population and our digital coverage reaches over 81% of the Canadian population;
- introduce Directory Assistance Call Completion;
- introduce nationwide digital wireless service in 1992;
- launch Rogers Wireless WORLDWIDE, a service which enables Rogers Wireless subscribers to use their wireless phone number in more than 80 countries around the world;
- offer Digital PCS from coast-to coast in Canada;
- introduce prepaid wireless services with the launch of Rogers Wireless Pay As You Go and then extend this service to virtually anyone with access to a wireless phone - regardless of their service provider or phone status. The has since been expanded to include calling to Australia, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Israel, Italy, Sweden, United Kingdom, Japan, China;
- offer flat rate price plans with the introduction of Rogers Wireless Digital One Rate - now calls are the same low price anytime, anywhere in North America;
- offer point of sale payment using wireless communications through a pilot run jointly by Rogers Wireless, Pizza Pizza, and Royal Bank;
- launch Inter@ctive Messaging in the Canadian marketplace. This two-way messaging service provides customers with a way to send messages to a phone, a fax machine, the Internet, another pager, or an E-mail address;
- introduce Rogers Wireless Office Services (WOS) - a unique service which combines the efficiency of customers' office desk phones with the convenience of wireless communications;
- announce a co-operative venture in Canada, linking an e-commerce web site with a major wireless company in an agreement with Bid.Com;
- test international Third Generation calling in joint venture with Ericsson Canada;
- Introduce web browsing capabilities using the GoWeb microbrowser on the BlackBerry 950 and BlackBerry 957 handheld devices;
- revolutionize the way the wireless industry does business with the launch if YOUR PLAN. This new pricing system treats customers as individuals by providing Canadian wireless customers with the ability to customize their phone package to suit their individual wireless communications needs;
- provide the most comprehensive wireless Internet experience available on both the new 'palm-sized' BlackBerry 957 and BlackBerry 950 Wireless handheld devices. In addition, Rogers Wireless has joined forces with over 20 powerful content partners to offer a wide range of products and services wherever customers might be;
- launch Wireless Guard - a service that covers lost, stolen or damaged handsets up to $1,500 a claim. This is an exclusive new phone protection offer that gives peace-of-mind to customers;
- launch Wireless Web service - a fast and easy access to the wireless Internet in the palm of your hand and available anywhere in Canada on the Rogers Wireless Digital PCS network;
- offer Digital PCS in Tofino and Ucluelet - two of British Columbia's most popular tourist destinations;
- offer access to AOL Canada™ features and content via wireless devices.
